Acne

This is how it looks dermatologically

Anybody who thinks that acne aka pimple just happens to teenagers are as much a fool as I am! I just realized that adult acne do happen – they are very common… to both guys and gals 😦 ! And that they are very different from the ones that teens have. Teens have, what medics call, Acne roscacea and adults have, what they call, Acne vulgaris. Ugghhh! What an abhorring name!! 😦 ! 😮

As, I have one so I had to look for a remedy. Something which suits a Sloth like me! 😛

So, I went on a pursuit of life without this ugly thing! After googling for 1 hour I found a lot of interesting stuff about this particular subject. 😉 Don’t worry, I will not be glorifying this. I’ll just give a ‘few’ remedies that I came across while reading…

Chemicals: Zinc is one chemical which helps in keeping a check on acne. So, whoever wants a pimple-free life take supplements of these Zinc pills!

Another person who ‘seems’ to hates chemicals altogether gave about 47 different methods of keeping pimples at bay as well as treating them… I’ll just put down the ones suitable for a lazy person as I am! 😉

  1. Put toothpaste on your pimple before you go to bed, should help reduce swelling overnight. Make sure it is the paste not the gel. One of the most popular acne home remedies. (And one of the most Sloth friendly!!) 😀
  2. Wash your face twice a day in warm salty water. This should leave your face oil free without aggravating the acne.
  3. Apply a paste of fresh methi (fenugreek) leaves over the face every night for 10-15 minutes and washed with warm water. This will prevent acne, pimples, blackheads, and wrinkles. (I know I’ll be too lazy to look for methi leaves… but if I get this in my hand, I’ll surely do it!… It prevents everything for God’s Sake!!)
  4. Place strawberry leaves on the acne, the alkalinity helps to reduce the swelling. (Note: even soap has alkalinity… that means we can use soap too!!) 😛
  5. Extract juice of one lemon and mix with equal quantity of rose water. Apply this mixture on the face and let it stay for about half an hour. Wash the face with fresh water. About 15 days application helps cure acne, pimples and reduces blemishes and scars. 😮 (15 days?!! Are you crazy… who has 15 days to settle the score with a 2 millimetre diameter acne?!!)
  6. Another method is to massage the face with the skin of lemon before washing with lukewarm water. (No time given 😦 )
  7. Eat plenty of fresh fruits and vegetables. At least 5 servings of fruits and vegetables should be included in your diet. All acne home remedies should include a healthy diet. (This is suggested in all the remedies I read!!… but I never remember having fruits … who’s gonna cut them?!!)
  8. Apply fresh lemon juice on the affected area overnight. Wash off with warm water next morning. (Good… I might try this… )
  9. Try a Smelly Remedy, if you don’t mind 😉 A couple of garlic cloves, crushed and dabbed on the face 1-2 times a day.
  10. Grind orange peel with some water to a paste and apply on affected parts. One of the best acne home remedies. (I had once used this… it was good… I think… it’s been many years actually… my Mom had made that orange peel powder at home and kept it on my bathroom shelf… so I used to try it!!)
  11. Clean face with cotton wool dipped in rose water 2-3 times a day. (Ahh….That’s more like it)
  12. Aloe Vera juice applied twice a day can greatly speed up the healing of acne lesions. (I’ve used Calosoft … it has AloeVera in it… I think I’ll continue!!)
  13. Ice down the acne before bed, by morning it should be noticeably less swollen. Works best on larger pimples that have not yet formed a head. (Never had a large one… so in future if I do… just for the record!!)
  14. Take vitamin B5 and zinc supplements daily to strengthen the skin’s resistance to acne. (Hey what about being Miss. “DO NOT USE CHEMICALS”?)
  15. Mix mint juice with turmeric powder and apply on affected area. Leave for 15-30 minutes and wash off with lukewarm water. (Mint……. hehe!!)
  16. Mix some vinegar and salt in a bowl. Pour a little bit in your hand and rub it on the pimples. Soak a face towel in it and dab it on the bumps. Leave it on for 15-20 minutes and rinse it off. (Great… but will it go in one go?!)
  17. Blend cucumber and make a paste. Apply this as a mask on your face and leave it for 1/2 hour and then rinse. This refreshes your skin and prevents acne. (I love cucumber… but that’s only to eat… applying and stuff… sounds cool!!)
  18. Mix sandalwood paste with rosewater and apply on the face. Rinse off after 30 minutes. (Aha!!)
  19. Mix the paste of tender neem leaves with turmeric and apply of affected area. An eastern approach to acne home remedies. (Ya… ya… my Mom keeps telling me!!)
  20. Make a paste by mixing 3 tablespoons of honey and 1 teaspoon of cinnamon powder. Apply this paste on the pimples before sleeping and wash it next morning with warm water. Repeat for two weeks, pimples will disappear forever. (At last an ultimatum!!)
  21. Rub fresh garlic on and around pimples. Pimples will disappear without a mark with regular applications. (Let’s be less slothy for a while!!… it’s the question of my Life now!!)
  22. Apply juice of raw papaya (including the skin and seed) on swelling acne, pimples. (My Mom does this when I don’t listen to her… she grabs me, throws me into a chair and starts rubbing some of the papaya she had cut for Papa to eat!!)
  23. Apply fresh lime juice mixed to a glass of boiled milk as a face wash for acne, pimples, blackheads, and ed skin. (Boiled !! I’m boiling now!!)
  24. Apply ripe Tomatoes pulp on acne, pimples and kept upto 1 hour, then wash. (Another of my Mom’s favorite grab-and-apply remedy!!) 😀 ! 😛
  25. Apply grated potatoes as poultice to treat skin blemishes, wrinkles, boils, pimples, blackheads, whiteheads , etc. (Just for the record!!)
  26. Large pores on facial skin can be treated with paste of sandalwood powder with masoor dal. (I’ll do this the day I become less Slothy!!)
  27. Honey is a great remedy for skin blemishes and acne because the honey kills bacteria. (I guess this one… I had been looking for… I have honey… I don’t hate the smell, nor do I mind the stickyness… but the thing is…. How do I apply?!!!…… I’ll just try it anyways!!)

I can’t go any further… Anybody interested in this topic… Google it yourself!

    Hi crankywriter

This is great stuff. The thing that helped my adult acne, and boils on my back, the most was apple cider vinegar baths and the toothpaste trick you mentioned. I will have to try the potato one, that sounds good.http://www.skin-boils.info/

I will have to read up on the zinc. Thanks
